A New Moon In Capricorn & The Chinese Lunar New Year Of The Rabbit

Photo by Steffi Wacker on Pexels.com

On December 23, 2022, A New Moon in Capricorn adds to

the new energies of the forthcoming New Year of 2023

Keep in mind that the Moon based Chinese calendar new year will happen on January 22, 2023.

The energy of Capricorn might trigger a strong need for being useful to society.

Sometimes, it may lead us down a path of looking for justification in the outside world.

It can be enticing to underestimate what we want from ourselves and for ourselves.

Resentment can follow shyness when feeling ignored by others.

Rather than seeking approval from the outside, turn yin-ward and trust your inner values.

A gentle and kind inside-out approach will relax harmful self-doubts.

Working Capricorn in the positive awakens self-control.

Try not to get seduced by its shadow side by trying to control everything.

It will be the year of the Rabbit, according to Chinese Astrology.

Energetically, Rabbit is symbolic of good fortune and reflects the powers of the moon.

It will be a good year to develop your sensitivity and artistic expressions,

as well as ambition, fitness & virtue.

Rabbits are associated with sexuality and fertility.

There are many ways other than physically having sex or childbirth

to play with these experiences in our lives.

For example, you can wear different colors, play music and sing

as forms to explore your sensuality,

as well as give birth to a new creative endeavor as a way to flirt with the fertility of life.

Also, these are all healthy ways to reclaim

and nurture a healthy relationship with your inner child.

Truly, reality is multidimensional or quantum in nature.

Meditation helps access these realms as well as soften our attachments to them.

This writer has heard stories about the writer Lewis Carrol’s clinging to

alternate realities that he could no longer access after writing his classic,

Alice in Wonderland,

which was akin to a shamanic journey.

Similarly, Pink Floyd’s Sid Barrett reportedly heard celestial music in the dreamtime.

Sadly, it drove him mad because he couldn’t capture that sound in this realm.

It can take a long time to learn cause and effect, which is not without its consequences.

At the same time, we can imagine the possibilities beyond cause and effect and predictability.

As a spirit guide, we can leap and hop with Rabbit into the Faerie realm and

magical adventures into rabbit holes of the underworld, middle or upper world.

Let us remember a callback to keep our feet on the ground and safely return to our hutch.

Alternate realities are adventurous places for our minds and souls to travel.

Staying grounded in this reality is just as important,

like the old spiritual mantra of walking with one foot in spirit, one foot in ground.

Soul travel is akin to dimensional bleeding.

(See you on the dark side of the moon)

Dawn & dusk reflect the in between times where the veil

between the spirit and physical realms are thinner.

Shadow building is when we call in our fears from our subconscious

into our conscious experiences.

Remember what we resist persists.

Are you contemplating starting a new project?

Could this be envisioning your new self?

Take care of yourselves everyone,

A Full Cold Moon, Winter Solstice and Looking Forward To A New Moon In Capricorn & Year Ahead After A Long December . . .

Photo by Joonas ku00e4u00e4riu00e4inen on Pexels.com

A Full Cold Moon arrives on December 7, 2022.

Like all full moons, this one goes by many names.

This name traces its roots to the Mohawk Indigenous Peoples.

Here in Maine, the Western Abenaki name is Winter Maker Moon.

Our ancestors recognized this Full Moon and Winter Solstice signpost as

the coldest and darkest timeframe of the year.

The Winter Solstice, arrives on December 21st,

and signals the darkest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

And then after that we begin to coax back the light.

It is a good time to venture yin-ward,

go into deeper meditation, introspection, contemplation, rest, sleep

and travel into your cave for inner exploration and self discovery.

Yin symbolizes the darker, more feminine energies, like the moon does.

The Blues doesn’t sing about sunshine and rainbows.

Darker emotions are a natural experiences- especially right now on the planet.

The old world, with its wars, dirty energy

and general shadowy conduct disorderly ways is a recipe for disaster.

Might as well surrender to what is and tend

to your inner garden in the seedlings of the present moment.

Rituals focusing on gratitude and letting go are good energy medicine.

In the Southern Hemisphere, it is the opposite.

It will be their Summer Solstice, where the light reaches its zenith,

and the amount of light in a day starts slowly waning thereafter.

Conversely, this is a time to be more of a social butterfly, festive

and outwardly expansive, as yang is more masculine, like the sun energetically.

On December 23, 2022, A New Moon in Capricorn adds to

the new energies of the forthcoming New Year of 2023

The energy of Capricorn might trigger a strong need for being useful to society.

Working Capricorn in the positive awakens self-control.

Try not to get seduced by its shadow side by trying to control everything.

Between the Winter Solstice, New Moon and New Year’s Day,

there are lots of new energies in the air.

Keep in mind that the Moon based Chinese calendar new year will happen on January 22, 2023.

It will be the year of the Rabbit, according to Chinese Astrology.

More on that next time.

Remembering Beaver, Everyday November Gratitude, Reawakening Colorful New Moon Reflections In Sagittarius & Leaving Behind Seasonal Old Selves

Our indigenous ancestors in the Americas saw the late Samhain as a New Year . . .

On November 23, a New Moon in Sag invites intentions for planting seeds of positive self talk.

New Moons are always times of new beginnings and new emotional cycles.

Remember, living a meditative life is not without a key dynamic of everyday Thanksgiving.

November’s Full Moon month has connections to the Energy Medicine of Beaver.

This month is as good a time as any to remember gratitude.

Meditation on Beaver captures connections to the Freemasons,

who were instrumental in the development of both Colonized America,

as well as a powerful totem to Indigenous people beforehand.

Beavers symbolize the ability to traverse both terrestrial,

watery worlds, craft secret tunnels and the awakening of perceptual doors.

The aftershocks of a powerful eclipse season are still pulsating through our energy centers . . .

as are the results from another political election season on November 8th,

which was also the date of the Beaver Full Moon.

At the forefront of contemporary American culture,

we have our attachments to, and preoccupations with winning and losing;

The trick of making politics like sports is the headliner du jour.

But a callback from a Wise Guy worth echoing asserts . . .

“The game we have all bought into is ending.

Monopoly is a game the Future will not understand anymore.

Love not money will save our hearts and souls.

And without our hearts and souls, we cease to exist in any way that truly matters.”

Pre-colonization was a time before humans worshiped the Almighty Dollar.

Instead of a maximum economic profit, a real free market is based on

reciprocity and bartering for mutual exchange.

What would happen if all the capital from Super Pacs, earmarks to lobbyists

and dark Secret Government programs

was instead redistributed into the Constitutional Preamble’s General Welfare?

Power to the We The People!

A New Moon in Sag features an archer that shoots their arrow toward a target through

mutable hybrid eyes of a gypsy, student and philosopher.

Their medicine teaches us to step out of our comfort zones

and experience novel meaning through an expansion of Truth.

Life is a fluid process of impermanence;

an adventurous quest that wins when open to divergent thinking.

The Yin and Yang illuminate dark spots within bright lights;

revealing the totality of life being greater than the sum of its parts.

Surrender the securities of safety in order to take a leap of faith.

But it is also wise to remember that hitting the pause button

can put the brakes on foreboding tragedy.

May we let go of painful parts of our past

so that we can visualize the future selves that we want to see ourselves becoming.

Sag’s Optimistic Thought looks like a mismatch against the realities of everyone’s life.

Humanity has rampant suffering in economic, emotional, physical, and spiritual ways.

It’s hard not to get seduced into our frustrations

and fears inside us and in the environment around us.

May the Sagittarius New Moon offer you A New Hope and bring in a galaxy of abundance

as you reimagine your next next chapter, if you’ll pardon the pun.

Take care of yourselves everyone,

Ari

Hawk Gives Us A Bird’s Eye View Into The Mystical Shorelines Ahead

Mercury in Retrograde, which has spiritual connections to Hawk, begins on September 9th and ends on October 1, 2022. Meditation on the energies of Hawk reveal spirit vision and guardianship.

Pay patient purposeful attention to the signs that will clearly reveal opportunities for you to see. Remember that we live in an energetic and sacred Universe. Hawk is a good reminder of the magic in it if our hearts and minds are open to it.

In a way, Mercury in Retrograde is like receiving messages from the gods of yesteryear. Relax and let go of left brain attachments and soar into the realm of right brain, intuitive faculties. Logic and rationalism are important forms of cognition.

But they are not the only way of thinking. Sometimes, it is best to let them rest and surrender to the irrational and creative forms of non-linear and non-localized thinking at this time.

It is a good time to get in touch with extraordinary states of consciousness.

For example, during meditation, our brain waves change form. Like with humor, changes in brainwaves gets us to look at things in a different light.

As always, be kind to your mind- machines too because they don’t always operate as seamlessly as they’re supposed to, especially when Mercury’s in retrograde. The Twilight Zone experience does not appear to discriminate.

Ever noticed how when your internal wires are crossed, machines also seems to short circuit and appear disassembled? Sometimes, I give Reiki to a machine that isn’t working properly and sometimes it will work. Other times, it doesn’t and I remember that it’s OK to walk away.

Distractions are everywhere, inside and out, in this world of 10,000 things. Mercury in retrograde is somewhat akin to AD/HD experiences, where we are can’t tell if we are going nuts or just forgot where we buried our acorns, like the squirrels in Nature.

Stay focused and keep your eye out for the signs to point you in the right direction. If anything, it’s a good time to sit with what is and not make any big decisions if you can help it.

Our old selves have very different lenses than our future selves. If hindsight vision is 20/20, then we can stand to allow this rewind time to inform us about the changes that we need to make.

Take flight, pause and reflect on this old episode retrograde rewind time period by reexamining what you see in the rearview mirror. It is likely that you will be revisited by past relationships in the form of dreams, visions and even in person encounters.

September’s Full Harvest Moon will peak on September 10. This Full Moon always happens closest to the Autumn Equinox on Thursday, September 22nd.

As we discussed in the last blog entry, in Ojibwe, the Full Moon during this time of year is called the Falling Leaves Moon. Watch the leaves falling and observe their process of changing colors. Seasons change no matter what we are doing or not doing. Might as well go with the flow of changes and embrace them as gracefully as possible.

Just after the official transition into Fall, a Libra New Moon awakens on September 25, 2022. New Moons are always symbolic of new beginnings and also a cycle of power for the energies of Hawk.

May the energies of the Libra New Moon ignite your soul’s expansion beyond the securities of your comfort zone and be open to exploration for all of life’s offerings. Spiritual wisdom reminds us to have an open heart and align with the Universe.

If only we can calm down and harmonize with our environment. This requires balancing tension of opposites, like the intersections between joy and pain, sunshine and rain. How do we make friends with that?

Libra symbolizes peacemaking. It wouldn’t be a stretch for a Libra working their soul energy in the positive to be an effective social worker, educator and civil rights advisor with children. This is an example of the love they embody.

Awakening to your soul purpose is in alignment with Hawk.

Till We Tweet Again,

A Gemini New Moon, Full Strawberry Supermoon & The Energetic Butterfly Effect

A New Moon in Gemini will arrive on May 30th, 2022. These changes in latitudes and changes in attitudes are reminders about the spontaneity of life. May a sense of safety awaken from an awareness about your feelings and sharing them with others. Remember that our heads and hearts want to be in harmony with one another because we need them both to function effectively. Gemini are mutable twins with a lot of teaching energy around them. They are natural storytellers and journalists and have a perceptibility for allowing the light to illuminate the shadows. Being able to see both the light and the dark in a balanced way recognizes the equanimity of life. You can’t have the light without the dark or the masculine without the feminine. Given how difficult it is to differentiate between fact and fiction these days, this is an especially good trait in the times we are living in. Effective communication is a balancing act between speaking and listening. Some people have the gift of gab, while others are natural listeners. We need to develop both forms for healthy communication. Learning to control our minds helps tame the Chattering Monkey Mind. This helps us discern between impulsive hot thoughts versus intuitive or psychic hits. Thoughts that are repetitive and loud need to relax.

A Strawberry Supermoon on June 14 will be the second supermoon of 2022. Its name trances its ancestry from the Algonquin, Ojibwe, Dakota, and Lakota peoples, among others. This time marks the ripening of strawberries that are ready to be gathered, as June reflects great abundance and manifestation. Alternative European names for this Moon include the Honey Moon and the Mead Moon. June was traditionally the month of marriages, and is even named after the Roman goddess of marriage, Juno. Following marriage comes the honeymoon, which is in spiritual synchronistic alignment with this sacred time. The Summer Solstice will happen on June 21st, marking peak sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere. After that, days will gradually start getting darker till light and dark are in alignment again on the Autumn Equinox in later September. In the Southern Hemisphere, it will be the Winter Solstice, the darkest day of the year. And then days will gradually start getting lighter till the light and dark are in alignment again on the Spring Equinox. Like our brains, Planet Earth has two hemispheres that are not separate but are naturally desirously dancing together in harmony.

Commentary

In the theater of life, the one guaranteed constant is change. The great thing about observing the naturalistic environment of Nature is that we see evidence of transience in the changing of the seasons. Think about how crazy it would be to try to rush away winter before the seeds of spring were ready to wake up. The moon doesn’t feel resentful of the sun’s heat, the sun doesn’t get fired up about the moon’s control of the tides, nor does the Earth say to the humans that have plundered Her resources that we owe her.

Do you really think God is egocentric enough to be jealous or vengeful about our behavior? If Jesus, believed by many to be the Son of God, was able to release judgements and forgive his perpetrators while being executed, then surely Creator was more in touch with Their better angels, rather than reacting to the atrocities like the crucifixion without reserve. Meditation on being created in the image of the Universe reveals that, as spiritual beings having human experiences, we understand that we are part creature and part divine. Awakening to the realm of possibilities is about learning how to become freewill within the humanity of our actions, rather than be enslaved by a mechanistic worldview of probability and statistics programmed to worship the suffocating ways of materialism. The energy of Butterfly shows us the real possibility of transformation. But transformation goes through stages. What stage of change are you in right now? Our spirits tend to rise with the light, and it’s hard not to feel inebriated from drinking in the sunlight. After the spring thaw, the natural impetus to be outside and walk in the sun is good food for the soul. All creatures have an excitability to their energy. Outward movement is reflective of working toward energetic expansion. It’s a good time to branch out of comfort zones, and broaden our social networks.

Don’t get sucked in or seduced by the programmed fears that live inside of you or are pushed onto you by the outer world. You all know that we are living with a proliferation of toxicity and pollution. But getting consumed by it isn’t helpful to you, anyone else or the world we live in. Remember that inner peace isn’t about living in a protective bubble. It is about finding that inner calm amidst the turbulent storms in your orbit. A healthy self care routine, including meditation and a trusted professional are all helpful change agents. None of us can do it all on our own. Let go of your pride and control issues, and allow yourselves to be vulnerable in a healthy way. If you have a voice in your head that says, “that’s not me”- ask yourself, who is that voice that makes this convincing argument?

Higher Love is such a divine feeling. It’s not an elitist or hierarchical position of judgment against lower dimensional thinking. Rather, this direct experience of the sublime is a vibrational shift where inner peace, happiness as a way of life, joy lives inside your being, and following you bliss is your way of life. This is where we ride the thermals of our better angels, or our Higher Selves. You can always gage where you are at in our own map of consciousness by how you feel. Are you in a scared, timid, frightened nervous woodland creature place? Might as well picture a butterfly to fly into a sphere of light-hearted floatation. The time is now!

Take Care of Yourselves Everyone,

Springing Into A New Age

Changing tides, multidimensional rides . . .

Gender identity and expression are signs of confusing transitional identity forms to differentiate.

Like shifting from Winter to Spring;

Winter is nearly forgotten, then remembered.

Not always gracefully like snowstorms in April when there should be only showers.

Or conversations about the fluidity of pronouns.

An attachment to the habituated mind’s eyes are sarcastically stained with clouds of judgements!

Reading a burning book about a caterpillar . . .

Doesn’t turn your fingertips into a firefly or butterfly!

(But meditation on Butterfly can help you spread your wings of compassion

by flying into gentle ripple effect zones of empathic understanding!)

Our world needs more loving kindness right now!

Fossil fuels are exhausting our resources!

Clean energy must be in the tailpipes of our heart minds . . .

It’s a Red Root Chakra thing:

You’ve got to understand . . . Whew!

But don’t get hung up on the color.

The primordial black truth of creation echoes a callback out of the Great Void:

Like leaves in Autumn, we are all diverse shades somewhere under the rainbow.

A New Moon In Aries, The Energies Of Frog & A Full Pink Moon

Aries is the first sign on the Zodiac. From a Western Astrological perspective, Aries reflects the energies of both the new beginnings of a new year, as well as a New Moon on April 1, 2022. Feelings of uncertainty make it tempting to run the hurry up offense by trying to solve problems faster than is natural. Do not rush as if there was a deadline. It is wise for the Ram to try to slow down their steps so that they can decide what they want to do and proceed at their own chosen speed. In the heat of the moment, remember the cool, wintry transitional shoreline tides of Pisces to take a deep breath, relax and go with the flow. May this be a gentle letting go of the heavy blanket of Winter, including any judgements you have been carrying in your backpack. The mystical, soulful travels of other dimensions are as important as the practicality of knowing how to live on this Earth. We all go through ages and stages in our life cycles. As humans, we all get insecure and suffer. We have neglected and even discounted our spirits. Vanity and glorifying youth culture can become a barrier to embracing our cosmetic imperfections. No, we can’t turn back the clock. With meditation, the aging process can be slowed down and even reversed. But meditation isn’t a cure nor is it a cosmetic approach. Developing a regular meditation practice is an inside-out approach to nurture our spirits (as well as our bodies and minds) that can have a meaningful and sustainable impact on our everyday lives. As we change the way we look at ourselves in the mirror of the mind, the way we look in the mirror changes.

Aries the Ram brings the element of fire and is a life force to be reckoned with because they can be fiercely deliberate in their approach. Aries is the part of our personality that embodies the power of our will, which is masculine or yang. Keep in mind that all women have masculine energy in them, while all men have feminine energy in them. So as the yin and yang, these energies flow within all of us and have a natural desire to be expressed. The Billy Joel classic song, My Life, captures the self determination of Aries to do whatever it wants. An intentional selection of crisis reflects the mountains we choose to climb. This writer remembers tapping into his inner ram during some radical hiking adventures, where being present with secure footing and listening to the elements could literally mean the difference between avoiding serious injury, or even life or death on any given moment. There were times that he lost his way, ran out of water and had to pull from resources that he didn’t even know were there. But the spirit of Aries is an intense and direct warrior and they will be sure to bring fire to their target. It won’t be a question of how to avoid stress because Aries attract stress like a magnet. The question is what form will it take. It’s as if the Aries positive self talk mantra asserts: pick your battles, as its signpost. Energy is energy. It’s what we do with it that counts and our approach that matters. We do not need to draw our swords or go to war with each other. Nobody likes feeling like they’ve been thrown under the bus or ambushed in relationship with each other. Remember that anger is the bodyguard of our fears, which explains why most, if not all emotional reactions come from a place of anxiety. Like the yin and yang, order and chaos are always at play with each other.

Check out this Civil Rights oriented video that captures the intersection between the powerful energies of Aries and feminine youth poetry in motion:

A Full Pink Moon, which gets its name from vegetation known as moss pink, arrives on April 16. The Cree Indigenous People called this Full Moon the Frog Moon. It is also known as the Paschal Full Moon because it is the first Full Moon of Spring. Easter is always celebrated on the Sunday after the first Full Moon of Spring, following the Spring Equinox, which was on March 20. This year, Easter falls on Sunday, April 17th. Like humans, flora and fauna; traditions have been mixing since creation. The light rises till its climax on the Summer Solstice on June 21, 2022. After that, the sunlight will slowly start waning until light and dark energies are equal again on the Autumn Equinox in September.

Commentary:

Showers in April are a good reminder that it is time a good Spring clean-up. Time for cleansing, purification, detoxification and release. Nature reflects our inner world for us to examine. The beauty of a rainbow could not exist without the storm that preceded it. It’s when we feel lost and alone that a rainbow appears that brightens our spirits. Otherwise, we would not be able to differentiate a dark sky from a clear day. From a spiritual perspective, we are living in a time of transition, where there is the death of an old world and rebirth of a New Earth. We are literally taking our first quantum leap onto the lily pad of the Aquarian Age. In this process, we need to let go of divisive us and them, stale, boxed in thinking, old ways of being sacrificial lambs, dog eat dog, you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours, male dominating female, fear of feminine power and unbalance of power by subjugating Black Indigenous People of Color and Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer people. The awakening New Age of Aquarius is a time where we can find our way in our own uniqueness by aligning who we are as individuals that mixes with group consciousness. Diversity within Unity. We are moving into a time period where the ego does not dominate the playing field anymore. It is about us becoming what is in tune with our Higher Selves or our Better Angels, as President Lincoln said. We can be aligned in our heads and our hearts with each other and come from a place of authentic soulful recognition. Yes, we have our prewired and learned fears, negative self talk and voices of trauma. But we don’t have to be seduced or submerged by them. Sitting with the Lotus flower out in Nature will help show you the way by becoming the change you want to see in the world. Observe this transformative process unfolding within yourself.

Take care of yourselves everyone,

Ari
