September’s Full Harvest Moon reaches its peak on Monday, September 20, 2021. But before that, a New Moon in Virgo arrives on September 6. New Moons always carry the energy of new beginnings, novel ways of perspective taking, and allurement into new adventures. Admittedly, Summer’s festive energy can hard to say goodbye to. Like any change in seasons, transitions are not always easy to navigate. Fall is a good time to balance getting back to school, back to business, and manage busy schedules. Squirrels seem to embody Virgo energy in the way they anxiously and intensely sniff out disorder, but not without balancing doings with fun through imitation and play.

September is a unique month because it is commonly referred to as either a Harvest Moon or Corn Moon. Because this Full Moon is nearest to the Autumn Equinox on September 22, it is called the Harvest Moon. In Ojibwe, it is called the Falling Leaves Moon. Our ancestors noticed that the moonrise would come soon after sunset, so the abundance of natural bright moonlight allowed for plentiful harvesting of summer crops.

The Fall Equinox is Nature’s way of reflecting equality between the energies of masculine/feminine, light/dark, yin/yang. After that, our clocks turn yin-ward as our days begin to get darker till we hit the Winter Solstice, the darkest day in the Northern Hemisphere on Tuesday, December 21. In the Southern Hemisphere, it will be the Spring Equinox in September, and then Summer Solstice in December. Energetically, Equinoxes and Solstices are good times to entertain opposites, meditate on wholeness and relax on polarities in your consciousness.

A Full Harvest Moon yields wisdom that it is nuts to keep doing the same thing over and over . . .

And expect different results.

Now is the time to get back to school, back to business, get organized and prepare for a rainy day fund.

Autumn Equinox is Nature’s way of showing us equality between masculine and feminine energies,

both within our beings and in the world around us.

After that, dark yin forces wax on until they climax on the Winter Solstice in December.

When you think you’re out of supplies, losing your acorns and

feeling like your being driven nuts;

Picture a Squirrel to help you

prepare for back to school assignments projects, tasks

and other responsibilities.

What are you doing to get ready for going back to school?

Are you working with your parents, grandparents,

guardians, coaches, teachers, family members
or other caregivers to help make

a successful change in your daily schedule?

Squirrel guides us into the realm of getting back to school and down to business . . .

While looking at the weather forecast ahead,

we are preparing for a winter storage or a time when resources are less plentiful.

Picture sobering up, getting organized and cross-referencing your planner

so that busy fall schedules will not drive you mad!

Squirrels are a good reminder that solid mental health looks like

the realization that doing the same thing over and expecting different results –

is likely to drive you nuts!

Autumn Equinox reminds us of the transitory balance of light and dark energies . . .

Yin (Feminine) and Yang (Masculine)

Are dancing together in equal dance-step.

In the Northern Hemisphere, we are moving further into the dark nights of our souls

to reach its zenith on the Winter Solstice in later December.

On the opposite side of the same coin –

Our friends in the Southern hemisphere know a similar energetic balance by

awakening to a Vernal Equinox in their Spring.

They will see the sunlight expands as darkness contracts

Reaching its climax on the Summer Solstice.

At this time, Nature reflects a most sweet and satisfying sensual equanimity . . .

If only fleetingly and transient

Commentary:

Fall and Spring Equinoxes are similar in the sense that masculine and feminine energies are in balance and reflected that way in Nature. Given that we are part of Nature, these are good times of year to meditate on these energies fluctuating together in natural equality both intrinsically and outwardly. This is an especially good time of year to marvel at the co-creative universal impetus for an egalitarian New World. Of course the building blocks of this new way of living on this Earth starts with you! The light of masculine-yang is the opposite side of the same coin as the dark of feminine-yin. We cannot get to the light unless we traverse the dark. Conversely, we cannot know the dark unless we walk in the light. Yang is expressive and outward in its movement. Yin, on the other hand is receptive and inward in its expression. Those of us in the Northern hemisphere can stand to realize that our friends in the South are experiencing energetic alignment in much the same way we are, absent they will be moving in a masculine-yang-light direction, whereas those of us in the North are moving in a feminine-yin-dark direction. If you prefer the dark and it is the opposite time of year where you live – the good news is that you have something to look forward to. In the meantime, we might as well find a way to accept, appreciate and even embrace the opposite of our energetic preference.

Take care of yourselves everyone,

Ari

Dragonfly Lightens Up Our Inner Skies

Dragonfly lands onto soulful inner space landing pads this week
Like us, they come from primordial creative waters

The energy of Dragonfly breathes the fires of color magic
onto paintings of our everyday living portraits . . .

A Full Sturgeon Moon swims into the seas of a Lunar Eclipse
arriving down the pike at the tail end of the first week in August . . .

The rising tide of the Age of Aquarius, and astrological eclipses in August
is streaming in Love and Truth into our collective consciousness . . .

But old world blockages fortify the status quo of old ways
Even if they are no longer working for us anymore,
and suffocating on life supports systems . . .

Bowing to the devil you know doesn’t mean you ignore your better angels
Stay away from fear and hatred, and closer to relaxing on rigidity . . .

Equality is awakening our individualistic diversity within our holistic unity!

This is easier to forget when watching the military-industrial complex,
and their carpet bagging bringing of dark emotions,
like fascist thinking out into the sunlight

Those old commercials try to convince us that we in the
United States are entitled to sit on a golden throne,

At the same time, we are sold on the idea that those living certain
profiled neighborhoods overseas are of lesser value . . .

But we see the same dynamic play out right here on our own turf
in areas populated by targeted demographics that include the poor and oppressed

Remember to keep it light with Dragonfly as a spiritual ally!

Till we meet again on the field,

Ari

Eagle In Flight

Eagle in Flight

A step from the light
A step from the dark
Close to fallin’
Close to flight

And I’ve got stage fright . . . In the dark tonight
A Soarin’ Eagle in Flight . . . In the skies tonight
A sunlit moon twilight . . . On A Starry Night

A leap of faith
Into an ocean’s abyss
Close to drownin’
Close to fate I’d miss

And I’ve got stage fright . . . In the dark tonight
A Soarin’ Eagle in Flight . . . In the skies tonight
A sunlit moon twilight . . . On A Starry Night

Here I’m standing still
Life’s pulse I can feel
This moment surreal
This experience is real

And I’ve got stage fright . . . In the dark tonight
A Soarin’ Eagle in Flight . . . In the skies tonight
A sunlit moon twilight . . . On A Starry Night

Now my Heart beats alive
My emotions I drive
Your perspective I see
In my own arms I am me

And I’ve got stage fright . . . In the dark tonight
A Soarin’ Eagle in Flight . . . In the skies tonight
A sunlit moon twilight . . . On A Starry Night

Hummingbird humming in our spirit-mind-body

I remember when hummingbird spoke to me while sitting in the woods recently, taking in the wonder of the natural world around me.  However, the message didn’t arrive in English, there were no other humans present to judge that and I didn’t ask if my nervous woodland creature friends had any green cards.  Admittedly, I was almost fooled by my fleeting encounter with hummingbird, as some dragonflies flitted about that nearly cloaked hummingbird’s presence.  But I recognized a slight acoustical variation and felt the great power generated from its spirited wings moments prior to my eye-witness encounter.  And then a leave fell in front of me and I observed a slight tremor in the Force (Chi), if you will, by noticing a slight change in color–evidence that Autumn is on its way.  In fact, the Fall Equinox rapidly approaches us on September 22, 2012 here in the Northern hemisphere, on Classroom Mothership Earth.  Hummingbird reminds us to find joy within our Being, regardless of what trials and tribulations we have been through and whatever roadblocks we may encounter down the pike.  Given hummingbird’s ability to fly in all directions and stop on a dime by hovering in dead air, I wonder if Barry Sanders had a hummingbird as spirit guide?  When meditating on hummingbird, I am reminded of great Master teachers like Jesus and Buddha.  Have you heard that these God-realized humans lived with the spirited wisdom that while taking life too seriously is foolish, being naturally playful and child-like is best medicine.  When having an open, passive attitude toward life, we welcome an abundance of positive energy that is free and clean fuel for our collective soul.  When meditating on hummingbird medicine, we allow ourselves to consume the sweetness of life in a balanced way–a harmonic convergence spirit-mind-body, so to speak.  As humans, if we want to change our trajectory on our planet and the Universe, then we need to leave behind a cleaner Carbon Footprint that walks in alignment with Nature.

Has anyone out there ever heard the joke about when the Italians “discovered” America and one Native American looks to his friend and says, “there goes the neighborhood?”  Well, when I caught wind of some of the Republican National Convention, I couldn’t help but get swept off my feet by the whirlwind of pep rally energy.  Anyone duped by the political rhetoric of Republic ideology is lured into the conceptual framework of their platform–specifically the Ron Paul ring-tone of libertarian, rugged-individualism that plays on natural sentiments of the audience.  Admittedly, I was initially surprised that our current moderate Republican President, business candidate of Wall Street, was not featured in front of the podium.  Instead, we paid for the privilege to be propagandized by some rich guys, that were placed in front of our telescreens by some really rich guys that feed this corporate mob during the liberal pour of their dog and pony show.  But I can appreciate why right-wingers like Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and master illusionist Carl Rove want to keep moderate Republicans like our current President out of the room, without a chance to defend himself in this ego-centered debate and charade.  Did anyone see Clint Eastwood steal the show with the empty chair?  True, Obama is still a mystery and it is normal to fear what you don’t understand.  But many of us are wise to their act.  Soon, we will see act two with the Democrats, but what we have here in the USA, is a one-headed, two-party system that is one step away from a dictatorship.  Even the pathetic Democratic party, that fronts itself as working toward its democratic principles, is fed by the same high octane Tea Party and deep pockets.  Doesn’t the film that is sold to us read like a parody of a fairy tale that you are embarrassed to read to your grandchildren?  Are we being fleeced and caught up in a golden straight jacket?  Here in Maine, governor Paul Le Page boasted like thieves after a looting, while being received by thunderous applause, he bragged about meetings held in secrecy to push forth an agenda that undermines worker’s rights, public education and welcomes more abundant pillaging of our Mother.  Personally, I feel an empathic compassion for Le Page, in the sense that he doesn’t see himself as a house slave that has forgotten his brothers and sisters in the field, while serving his master and overindulging in the excesses of Mansion on the Hill.  Who payin’ you?  Have folks forgotten that this country was built off the backs of free and indentured labor?  Would there be an American Dream, if it were not for the sacrifices of our Native American and African-American brothers and sisters and many other colorful folks?  And yet, when we gaze upon the chimes of freedom and see our friends in Congress, do we see equitable representation of their hard labor?  Is the Middle Class being fairly compensated for their hard work?

But I didn’t write this blog entry to change the world in one fell swoop.  Rather, in spite of the intentional boxes that are programmed into our collective psyches, perhaps we might allow ourselves to find a breath of fresh air in hummingbirds mantra that life is full of joy and re-program ourselves from inside out.  Are you allowing yourself to taste the sweet nectar of life, a moderate indulgence of sugar and the like?  True, most of us didn’t grow up in a Mayberry like fantasy, but we all have the power within to transcend the hypnotic trance suggested to us by the master illusionism that hides behind the curtain.  Remember the wise old saying, “the truth shall set you free?”  But don’t take my word for it–please consider testing out the power of hummingbird’s medicine yourself.  Maybe the next time you find yourself feeling swayed by a carefully crafted commercial, you will picture a hummingbird and start humming to yourself.  There is powerful energy in sound and humming is a natural way to energetically wash your spirit-mind-body and access inner joy immediately.  In this light, we peer into the realm of infinity and co-create a New Earth, one step, one breath and one moment at a time.

Stay True,

Ari
