A New Moon In Capricorn, New Year, Full Wolf Moon & The Chinese Year of the Snake

A New Moon in Capricorn happened on December 30th; marking the last new moon in 2024. When I think about Capricorn, I think about digging in and finding the determination to keep going along the trails of life. Goat’s energy has been a powerful spirit guide for me at times. Specifically, their medicine remedied some of the more challenging hiking adventures I’ve experienced. Somehow, I was able to keep going by taking it one step, one breath, one moment at a time. Secure footing can be hard to come by. But the Goat has got your back.

Truly, it can be challenging when feeling a strong need for being useful to society; magnified by looking for justification in the outside world. At the end of the day, seeking approval from the outside doesn’t get rid of self doubt and is harmful to the self. Trust your inner values. Or like an old friend’s High School yearbook quote stated, “evaluate yourself by your own standards, not someone else’s.”

New beginnings that are always associated with new moons and New Years. Magnify that with a Full Wolf Moon on January 13, 2025, and then the Chinese New Year of the Snake on January, 29th. Lots of new energies are in the air! In the Northern Hemisphere, it is the death cycle of Winter. Things are quieter now. Energetically, it’s time for the soil to rest (as well as our souls) before the next season of Spring’s rebirth and new growth.

The origins of this full moon also comes from Celtic and Old English ancestral roots. Werewolf myths can be found in ancient Greek and Roman societies, throughout European history and among some Native American tribes. These transformational stories appear to align with the mysterious energy of Snake; where old skin is shed to clear way for a renewed sense of self. During this process, Snake’s eyes glaze over with a misty like mucus that reflects the alchemy associated with the cyclical death of the old self, and forthcoming rebirth of the new self and new growth.

Of course the Lunar New Year is always different because it is based on the moon cycles, and doesn’t line up exactly like the Gregorian, sun based calendar. Nothing against the Sun, but man can our egos can get scorched by our control issues. Too much playing with fire, and we can all get burned.

According to legend, a celestial race took place long ago in ancient China. When the first 12 animals finished the race, their energies were honored to become members of the Chinese Zodiac. All the other animals were reportedly surprised by Snake finishing 6th in the competition because Snake effectively swam so stealthily with the river’s currents; hardly perceptible to the other animals.

Because humans often reflect certain traits of animals; appreciate that snakes are cautious and introverted observers. Snakes are adaptable and intelligent, and their cool and mysterious behaviors intersects with their suspicious and insecure nature. Beneath their coat of armor is abundant sensitivity, wisdom, and passion.

Wishing you all much inner peace,

Ari

A Full Cold Moon Sheds Light on a Dark Winter Solstice . . .

A Full Cold Moon on Sunday, December 15 awakens our ancestral heritage foundation of pre-colonization American history and Celtic culture.

Not long after that, it will be the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere on December 21st. This is the darkest day of the year on this half of the planet.

In much the same way as our ancestors did; we are given the opportunity to meditate on coaxing back the light because every day will show a little more daylight till light and dark are equal again on the Spring Equinox in later March 2025.

In the Southern Hemisphere, it will be their Summer Solstice or the peak amount of daylight there. And then their days will be getting shorter till the arrival of their Autumn Equinox, where light and dark will be equal again.

This Full Moon aka Gemini Full Moon also represents a powerful point of completion and endings. This is the perfect time to set intentions for anything we might wish to leave behind and let go of as we move into 2025.

Taoism and ancient Chinese culture reveal that digesting bitter is an age old mantra; especially during this Bitter Full Moon. Bitter doesn’t taste good, nor does the experience of digesting bitter feel good.

Like the commercialized long, drawn out American election season; special interests spend mad money on propping up candidates backed by big money and the mega rich. Who payin’ you?

Just imagine the possibilities when we pour the bulk of those resources into the the well being of our planet, humanity and all sentient beings . . .

The dying old paradigm is hard to stomach and sit with. If we aren’t attending to our mental health and spirits, then our souls can fade and remain easily traumatized and triggered. Everything feels personal from that experience.

In the Northern Hemisphere, darker days align with a yin-ward focus. Coming down in our souls aligns with the spirit of the season and will harmonize with all creation.

Time to go within our inner dens and visit the dream lodges during winter’s death cycle.

Tis the season to slow down, get more sleep, rest, journal, meditate and play around with lucid dreaming.

The reason we say Happy Holidays is that there are so many cultural celebrations that honor spirit at this time of year.

And yet, the emphasis on consumerism, shopping and the cultural norm of being up all the time. But it isn’t natural with a time where we are meant to come down into our souls and gather with each other with festive vibes.

Mercury in Retrograde continues till December 25th. As always, we can expect more spacing out, mental fog, compromised left brained cognitions, and machines behaving badly more than usual during this time.

Might as well take it easy and prioritize self-care while surfing these Yule tidings, if you’ll pardon the seasonal pun.

Mindfulness is not about polyanna or looking at life thlough rose-colored glasses. It’s about where we put the spotlight of awareness.

Focusing on positive self-talk is far more supportive and empowering than getting sucked into negative self-talk stories and learned helplessness.

Last year, it was the year of the Dragon.

As you reflect back on the last year- what awakenings did you notice with relation to self-love and empowerment by tapping into your inner royal and power?

According to the Chinese Lunar calendar, it will be the year of the Snake on January 29th, 2025. From this perspective; an awakening of wisdom and elegance will take place because the energy of Snake symbolizes transformation and adaptability.

Snake will be an important spirit guide to help us move further into the throes of Climate Change; as well as effectively transition from a dying old world into a New Age and Paradigm.

Take care of yourselves everyone,

Ari
